Pumpkins, Buoyancy, Germination and More!

What a wonderful time my Busy Bees had investigating pumpkins and seeds this week! We explored pumpkins, sink and float, germination and more. We discovered that pumpkins are buoyant and float! We learned a song about buoyancy. We enjoyed having a special guest reader, too. It's been a great week of learning and discovery! 

Pink Day at NLO Calls for a Pink Chemical Reaction

An awesome day celebrating our warriors and raising money for breast cancer research. We even experimented with color mixing and created a PINK chemical reaction! 

Happy Columbus Day

 We had a great time learning about and celebrating Columbus Day. We enjoyed making edible ships and eating them as a snack. We traced Columbus' route to San Salvador and put on our engineering hats to design our own ships. 

Investigating Weather - Cloud in a Jar

We celebrated an awesome week with an amazing and simple science experiment, Cloud in a Jar! A cloud in a jar is a weather science experiment that gave my Busy Bees a chance to explore clouds and rain in a hands-on and engaging way! They enjoyed watching the colored water seep down through the shaving cream and into the water below. Just like rain! After working up an appetite experimenting, we enjoyed some awesome cookies from Ryder, our Student of the Week. 

Investigating Push and Pull

 We had a blast investigating push and pull this week. We took time today to explore using Matchbox trucks, cars and vehicles. The excavator and dump trucks were our favorites. Improving science education for our youngest learners is something I am continually striving to do. Want to increase engagement and motviation? Science is the way!

Love starting the year with STEM. These centers are some of our favorites! My friends are awesome engineers & so creative. It's going to "BEE" a great year!

African Animals Dioramas

            

Look a predator!

We enjoyed learning about Africa this week and researching African Animals. We learned that Africa is home to some of the most well known animals in the world! The African Elephant was one of our favorites! We finished our study by creating dioramas of our favorite African Animals.
