The Three States of Matter - YUMMY!

    

 Root Beer Floats come together with the perfect mix of chemistry, physics and yummy taste! This science inquiry has been one of our best tasting, so far!  My friends knew immediately the ice cream was the solid and the Root Beer the liquid. It was fascinating to watch them observe all of the bubbles created and identify them as a gas. What a yummy, hands-on way to observe the 3 states of matter! My friends are amazing young scientists! 

Happy Thanksgiving

 

As a culminating project to our Pilgrim and Native American studies, we created vests with Native American symbols. My friends came up with their own unique names, as well.  We loved sharing a traditional Thanksgiving feast from Oak Point in our class. Such a wonderful day filled with good food, friends and a visit from our wonderful principal, Mrs. Stone. Blessed to spend my days teaching my friends.             Wishing you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving!

Thank you Tynia with the L.S.U. Chemistry Dept. My friends and I had a blast learning about polymers.  You did a fantastic job with our virtual lesson. My friends were so motivated and excited that they decided to create their own polymers next week. What a fun afternoon of learning and discovery!

Buoyancy - What Floats Your Boat?

When exploring buoyancy it's fun to take a break and create an edible boat. We discovered they were not buoyant, but very yummy. 

Cloud in a Cup - Drink it Up!

 

We conducted a neat science experiment today that we observed and enjoyed drinking after. A cloud in a cup gave my friends a chance to explore clouds and rain in a hands-on and engaging way! We even added red sprinkles for lightning. We had so much fun concluding our introduction to weather this week. 

Hip Hip Hooray for DNA!

           

 We enjoyed exploring how unique & special we are. On Friday, we created edible models of a strand of DNA.
